Tim Hortons [Coquitlam, on Barnet]

I was running errands, it was about 3 in the afternoon, I hadn't had lunch, and I was in dire need of a coffee. Solution? A quick stop at Tim Hortons to get my fix before running off again. After all their advertising on their new "soft buns" that I had been hearing, I wanted to give it a try. I had actually liked their sandwiches before with the harder baguettes, so I wanted to compare. And as a plus, I enjoy their coffee.

I ordered a Turkey and Bacon Club ($4.69) on whole wheat toasted softbun.

After my initial bite, I decided that, yea, I definitely liked the baguettes they used to serve better. The crunch and texture they used to have before added to the sandwich, these buns were no better than sandwich bread from the grocery store.. In terms of the taste of the sandwich, I do really liked their honey mustard sauce that they put on these sandwiches.. but they kind of skimped out on the sauce in my sandwich. Too bad, because it's the only thing that makes these sandwiches special to me..

My friend had the Toasted Chicken Club, and if you're going to have to get a sandwich here, I'd recommend this one. Back when they had the harder baguettes, this one was my favourite, and I actually thought it tasted pretty good.

Unlike my sandwich, this one had a plentiful amount of honey mustard sauce, and the chicken breast made the sandwich more substantial--which it needs now that they've replaced the bread.
I'd talk about the soup too, except there's not much to talk about. It was soup, and it was just fine.

I also like the fact that they serve bacon that isn't fried to a crisp, but that's just my personal preference.

The veggies they use also were very fresh.

Has anyone else tried both sandwiches? Which bread did you prefer more?
I want them to bring the hard-crust baguettes back ;_;... you?
Tim Hortons (Coquitlam, on Barnet):

Food:
  • Preferred their hard-crust baguettes
  • Have stopped by for late night desserts, not bad
Service:
  • nice enough to let me change my sandwich order while they were dealing with other customers
Atmosphere:
  • n/a (although I'd suggest visiting a Tim Hortons in the middle of the night with some buddies.. just because. : ) )

For most people, anything outside of the ordinary will be good. Likewise, something too ordinary will work as well. Like finding something "unique" from MickeyD's? :)

I haven't had the new baguettes yet; however, looking at them... For some reason the old ones looks better. I guess I will find out after I actually try them.

On the topic of MickeyD's, I was also considering trying out their mcmini's :3

However since I definitely like Tim Horton's coffee over Mcdonalds, and that's what I really needed, I opted to go with TimmyHo's.

That's what we were thinking too when we visited. I think it's the shape of the older baguettes. They were a thinner width at the ends, whereas these ones are a rectangular log.

But yea. Go and try anyways : ) Won't know for sure until you do.

The old bread was MUCH BETTER! If you have dentures, opt for the new generic bread, but I feel like alot of the enjoyment of the sandwiches went with the beautiful fresh loaves they used to make... saving money... skimping on their food. I spend alot of money there, so they could atleast OFFER the quality choice to regulars... disappointed.

Glad to see I'm not the only one : ). Perhaps their old baguettes were more cost heavy, and switched over, marketing it like it was an improvement.

ah well. I never went to Timmies often anywho.
