I guess we'll consider this my UBC first year end celebratory post. : ) Featuring the best cookies you can get on campus, and arguably in Vancouver, Blue Chip Cookies.
Blue Chip Cookies is a coffee shop within the Student Union Building on campus. It's definitely not sit down eatery, but a great place to stop by for a coffee and a treat before rushing off to go about your business. They serve a number of different baked treats and drinks. You can tell which ones are the most popular by how many there are in the lineup (as seen above.) But they're constantly replenishing the supply.
As a little treat for finally getting around to getting back on campus and packing my million-and-one trinkets, I decided to get some cookies to share. The one above is the Brazil Crunch. A white chocolate and macadamia nut cookie ($1.75). And yes that is a giant white chocolate chunk that they place on top of the cookie before baking. And yes it is wonderful. And yes they're so fresh that the chocolate sometimes won't be quite set and cooled when you buy them. :3
These cookies are so crisp that you hear them when you take a bite out of the edges, but wonderfully fluffy within. They are a sweeter type of cookie, so if you're not into sweets, this will not be your cup of tea (especially with the white chocolate), but otherwise you must try these. There is a plentiful amount of white chocolate within the batter as well (not just on top) to keep your tastebuds happy. I would personally want more macadamia nuts, but hey. Still wonderful.
The second we got was the Marbelous cookie ($1.75). Probably the most popular of the cookies (and in close second, the Brazil Crunch). Honestly, when I compared the two, I liked the Brazil Crunch better due to the nuts. However, they both taste very similar with the very sweet white chocolate.
Again, amazingly crispy around the edges, and practically a pillow with white chips dispersed within.
I personally think they can be too sweet when there's nothing to contrast, but pair it with a nice strong coffee, and these are amazing. : ) Summers almost here. Make it a day trip and come give these a try.

i LOVE their chocolate croissant :D
Hey Cathy, thanks very much for the comment!
I don't come here often because it costs me actual money.. (as opposed to the meal card.. the AMS should really do something about that...), so when I come I go for the cookies. But chocolate croissants you say? I think I'll give them a try the next time I head back. : ) Thanks for the heads up.
